12:34 pm - breaking up's so hard to do today has been the big break up day. breaking up with my
staffing/recruiting agencies that is. last week we finally hired
an in-house recruiter to help us out. finally . after 7 months they finally decided
it would help to hire someone fulltime (after going from eight open
reqs in january, we've gone to an out of control number of twentyfive
plus open reqs being handled by two people part time - my boss and
i). he's taken over all my reqs, so over the last week i've been
working on transitioning everything to him and closing out my
candidates. yesterday i got a few calls from the agencies i had
been faithfully using for the past few months and let them know where
we were at and that any new candidates should be sent to the new
recruiter who would then decide how he'd like to move forward (in terms
of how the relationship will work moving forward). i could sense
the feeling of disappointment coming at me on the other end of the line
when i broke the news. the trouble is that most in-house
recruiters do everything themselves and use agencies as the last
resort. the recruiters we had last year rarely, if ever, used
agencies.
one of the agencies i worked with was based in nyc. the agency
rep who was my main point of contact had come out to sf to meet all his
clients about two months ago. so, i felt really bad 'breaking up'
with him because i had actually met him in person (more of an
attachment). but what can you do? business is
business.
(yay! no more recruiting for me)
